National Ballet of China is staging its revised version of red-themed dance drama
Yimeng from Saturday to Monday at Beijing's Tianqiao Theater.
Featuring the devotion of people living in the
Yimeng mountains, an old revolutionary base during the Chinese Civil War period, the drama re-envisioned stories and music from the old version, which was released and became a hit over forty years ago.
According to Feng Ying, the troupe's director, as a tribute to commemorate the upcoming 100th anniversary of the Communist Party of China in 2021, the drama carries positive messages to "encourage young audiences to learn about history and stories from the past."
