The claims by Grey Zone, an independent news website in the US, that "the Chinese government is committing genocide against ethnic minorities in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region" are an outright lie, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Monday. These reports also show that facts speak louder than words and justice is essentially in the eye of the beholder.
The reports released by the Grey Zone pointed out the misuse of data, misrepresentation of facts, fabrication of cases and logical inconsistencies in the so-called investigation report, revealing the true nature of the report's author, Adrian Zenz (who calls himself Zheng Guo'en in Chinese), said Wang Wenbin, spokesperson for China's Foreign Ministry, at the press conference.
"Zenz and some international anti-China forces have concocted rumors and lies about Xinjiang for their personally driven ulterior motives,, using fake news to gain attention and sully China's reputation in the process," Wang said. However, no matter how sophisticated their 'deceptions' are, they are no match for plain reality. One day, Zenz and others will have to face justice for their unscrupulous disinformation and slander."
For quite a long time, some organizations and individuals have consistently released reports smearing China, and fabricating stories on Xinjiang under the guise of protecting "human rights" and freedom.
According to official statistics, the overall population in Xinjiang continued to grow steadily from 2010 to 2018. Experts pointed out that Xinjiang's population growth best answers Western smear campaigns on the region, and in the recent face of the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in Xinjiang, the government has, as always, placed humanity as its top priority.
Wang noted that the Chinese Government attaches great importance to the protection of human rights, adhering to the people-centered concept of human rights, and has successfully established a human rights development path that is in line with China's national state, which has also made remarkable achievements.
Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi will share China's philosophy, practices, and experiences in human rights protection at the United Nations Human Rights Council, and put forward important views and propositions on global human rights governance on behalf of China, promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, Wang said.
"In the recent past, an increasing number of knowledgeable people have learned about the situation in Xinjiang and understood the Chinese government's policies, who have also taken the initiative to speak up. China hopes that more foreign media will report on Xinjiang through an objective lens. We also hope that the international community can recognize the designs of these forces and will not be misled by rumors," Wang added.
