The Chinese Foreign Ministry has refuted accusations made by the US State Department spokesperson that Beijing has been averting blame, saying that China has expounded its position multiple times with facts and data, and urges the US to establish constructive dialogue with China and bring China-US relations back to the right track.

"Regarding the accusations by the US, we have repeatedly stated our position, presenting facts and data. Anyone who is not biased against China can come to an objective and fair conclusion," said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin at Tuesday's routine press conference.

Wang's comment came in response to an accusation made by US State Department spokesperson Ned Price on Monday that China is "averting blame for its predatory economic practices, its lack of transparency, its failure to honor its international agreements, and its repression of universal human rights."

"We hope that the US can adopt a positive and constructive policy of dialogue with China, proceeding from the interests of the Chinese and US people and people around the world and bringing China-US relations back to the track of sound and stable development," Wang said.

Ned Price made the remarks after Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi urged the US to establish dialogue mechanisms with China at all levels and properly manage differences in a speech Monday. Price said that Wang's comments "reflect a continued pattern of Beijing's tendency of averting blame."

Wang Wenbin stressed State Councilor Wang Yi's view that China-US relations over the past few years have veered away from the normal direction, saying that they have fallen into the most difficult situation since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

"The root of the reason is that the previous US administration made a serious miscalculation and distorted explanation of the moving direction and policies of China and launched various acts of containment and suppression for their own political needs, which has caused incalculable damage to bilateral relations," he noted.
