Students at a university in Yangquan, North China's Shanxi Province have been suffering from diarrhea and vomiting since Thursday, and were later confirmed to have been infected with norovirus after investigation, according to the university on Monday.
The local disease control and prevention department in the city immediately took samples from the students as well as food material and water for norovirus tests, and confirmed that the students were infected with norovirus, Shanxi Institute of Technology said via its Chinese-twitter like Sina Weibo account.
The school confirmed that the students' symptoms were not "due to food safety issues."
The school has isolated all the students with similar symptoms for medical observation and disinfected all public places such as student dormitories, dining halls and classrooms.
The conditions of two students infected with norovirus have improved after treatment, while some other students' symptoms have already disappeared, the university said on Monday.
The school will closely monitor the conditions of those students in case of newly found cases.
