"They let me appreciate beauty and charm of our own fashion brands. Chinese designers can also produce brilliant works and we do not need those foreign brands that smear our country," one netizen commented on Sina Weibo.
Fans were proud of the celebrities that chose Chinese brands. "There are many pretty and good quality clothes of Chinese brands and, with our idols promotion, more people can discover their charm. This is a good opportunity to develop China's own fashion brands," a fan of actor Gong Jun in Beijing told the Global Times on Thursday.
