Thursday is the 75th anniversary of victory in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression (1931-45) as well as the World Anti-Fascist War. Many related hashtags have appeared in China's social media including China's twitter-like Sina Weibo.

Many Chinese netizens paid tribute to the soldiers and heroes who made sacrifices in the wars. And some showed their respect by going to the cinema to watch films including the war epic The Eight Hundred.

Although the seating capacity is only 50 percent according to the coronavirus prevention requirements, the box office for The Eight Hundred has reached 2 billion yuan ($292 million) since it premiered.

There have also been visitors to the Sihang Warehouse where the historical event in the film The Eight Hundred happened, with many leaving flowers for the dead heroes.

It shows the heroes will be remembered, and that Chinese people will never forget what they did for us.
