Escape from hot summer: Wind chime exhibition brings refreshing breeze in Japan amid COVID-19 pandem

A wind chime exhibition named "Marunouchi Summer Installation - Power to Japan" is held in Tokyo from Aug. 21 to Aug. 28, with 2,020 wind chimes on display.

After the exhibition concludes, the wind chimes with messages of gratitude and encouragement will be presented to frontline health workers who are fighting the COVID-19 epidemic.

Wind chimes, also called "Furin", are a symbol of summer in Japan. The chimes, hung outside or near the windows, make sounds in the wind to announce a refreshing breeze, providing aural comfort from the summer's heat.
