Some batches of imported frozen beef which tested positive for COVID-19 in Shanghai are suspected of having flown into Siziwang Banner in North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, with local authorities offering rewards of up to 10,000 yuan ($1,543.21) for related information. It is believed that the beef had its packaging changed illegally by vendors.
The local authorities in Siziwang Banner urged companies and individuals to take the initiative and report their recent sales, storage and transport of imported frozen beef to prevent and control the epidemic situation.
All residents in the banner have been encouraged by the local market watchdog and health commission to report sales of the relevant imported frozen beef with cash rewards between 1,000 yuan and 10,000 yuan after proper verification.
Anyone who conceals and causes serious consequences will be investigated for legal responsibility according to relevant laws and regulations.
